Optimization of Prosthetic design by calculating of lost part of the body in persons with unilateral transtibial amputation.

There is a great debate on exact calculation of weight of the prosthesis as it is difficult to calculate the weight of the existed part of the person with amputation. In this study, an instrument was designed to calculate the weight of the lost part of the body and stump on which prosthesis will be made.

Design and Development of Paediatric prosthesis

The major constraint in frequent change of prosthetic device in developing country is lack of sufficient number of prosthetic fitment center, skilled prosthetist, paediatric prosthetic kit and low income group of amputee. To face this challenge a low cost paediatric prosthetic kit with a concept of height adjustibility and reusability was designed.

Modular Paediatric Below-Knee Prosthesis

During the period of limb growth in children it is required to change the prosthesis very frequently. Despite the adjustmentin the socket part for two years, heights of the shaft of prosthesis needs to be changed. Keeping this problem in mind a technique of height adjustment with a single bolt has been designed and developed.

Orthotic Management of CTEV:

The various deformities of foot like Equinus, Varus, Rotaiton, Adductus, Supination and Cavus are treated by several three point pressure systems. Three point pressure systems like, Denis Brown Splint, dynamic NOA Spilnt, pediatric AFO, Wheaton Brace, articulated turnbuckle splint were made in this institute.

Proposal for the Weight Calculation of amputed Part in Amputees
Muscles produce force that acts through the bony lever system to resist gravity or to create movement. Mechanical forces can provide a major effect on growth of the body and energy consumption. Tissue responds to forces according to the type of loading ,duration of loading and direction of loading. In case of artificial limb the weight of the prosthesis has a relation to growth of the stump and shape also. The weight of the amputed part has a relation with the weight of the prosthesis. In this project, a system to calculate the weight of the amputed part in recent conditionss
of patient health and structure in a simplified manner has been designed.
